FINAL PHASE OF THE HISTORIC RESTORATION

Thanks to the expansive generosity of our donors (see below), we have surpassed $120,000 in restoration funding! We are still in need of that last amount of funding to cover the cost of the $200,00 historic restoration. It's never too late to give and become a history maker! See below.

Photo above: May 6, 2021 marked our solid commitment to make this project happen with the official Cottage Restoration Groundbreaking Ceremony! MI Mayor Benson Wong, MI Councilmember Craig Reynolds, and contractor Gary Redman of Redman Construction threw out the first dirt while young riders, dancers and pre-schoolers looked on.

Lakeview Schoolhouse Teacher's Cottage built circa 1918. More recently used as a caretaker's cottage.

Enjoy our carousel of photos of life at the schoolhouse and barn!

BOY SCOUTS CAME TO THE RESCUE!

When there's digging to be done and young plants to plant, mulch and nurture...When there are pavers to be dusted off, squared up and cemented...There are two eager and fine teen Boy Scouts, Hudson Atrosh and Joshua Belden to the rescue! Josh has stepped up to pave the way with the placement of donor named pavers and to secure an honorary donor bench is secured in a particularly sweet spot. Hudson has been building muscle with yard clean up, digging garden beds, and planting native species to produce a natural eco-system that would have wowed the early 20th century teachers to see from their cottage kitchen window!

Providing youth the opportunity to foster their growth and leadership skills is a core value of all of us in operation here.

Thank you for supporting our vision and the cottage restoration! And Go Boy Scouts (and the Girls, too!)
